This Risk Management (Financial Services) Credential assesses, validates and recognises the capability to manage risk in the workplace. Earners of this credential demonstrated that they review and assess risk; address regulatory requirements; provide implementation guidance on the Risk Culture Framework and implement strategy in line with risk appetite and action plans. This Credential is a custom framework designed exclusively for Westpac and is offered in partnership with RMIT.

Earning Criteria

Credential submissions are assessed by academic and industry practitioners with relevant experience.

The submission process is evidence based and successful achievement of a credential requires a portfolio of evidence, a written reflection and a video testimony showcasing the relevant skills and knowledge at the expected level. The submission has addressed and demonstrated five out of six criteria listed below:

Develops and implements strategy in line with Risk Appetite and the current levels of risk in the business and the new or emerging risks from the operating environment.

Takes an active role in setting risk appetite and ensures people are operating within approved risk appetite, including associated limits and authorities and meet our compliance obligations.

Assesses risks through in-depth monitoring of issues and incidents, control effectiveness, self-assurance activities, Key Risk and Control indicators, Assurance and Audit findings.

Makes rigorous, evidence-based risk decisions and improves Risk Profile by implementing action plans that effectively address regulatory requirements and root causes of issues to deliver risks back into appetite in a timely manner.

Reviews and assesses required capability (people, vendors and technology) and undertakes hiring or development to ensure priority capability and capacity uplift.

Role models and reinforces the foundations of Strong Risk Culture.
