Earners of the Rajasthan Royals Sports Events and Facilities Management badge have gained insights into the global sports events industry, commercial models used within the industry, the evolution of modern sports stadiums, core operational functions of stadiums, and recent innovations in sports fan experience. Earners also gained insights from case studies in stadium development, stadium operations, and the Tokyo Olympics. This course is offered in partnership with Deakin University.
Earning Criteria

The course material integrates Rajasthan Royals video insights which are specially created videos by business professionals at the club, as well as a leading sports professional with extensive experience in managing global sports events. The course also presents a case study of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics being delivered against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. To complete the course, earners completed six learning modules that comprised a mix of theory and practical examples.

Module 1: The Sports Event Industry. Earners got the opportunity to review the historic growth of the diverse sports events industry we have today, understand the role of governing bodies and international sports organisations and the process of bidding for and delivering events, and the social and economic impacts of sporting events and the legacy they leave.

Module 2: Creating Compelling Events. Earners got the opportunity to learn financial approaches applied to prospective events to ensure viable commercial outcomes, the types of sponsorship partnerships in use within the industry, and the role volunteers play in event organisation and implementation.

Module 3: Sports Facility Operations. Earners got the opportunity to learn about the evolution of sports facilities through history, the financial streams available from the operation of sports facilities, and how stadiums and facilities are able to attract events through leveraging their market position.

Module 4: Facility Operations. Earners got the opportunity to learn how catering, ticket sales, hospitality, merchandising, and transportation are organised by a professional venue, review the security and safety elements along with the marketing and event attraction management, and the role that evolving technology has in providing connectivity for fans attending venues.

Module 5: Experience and Innovation. Earners got the opportunity to learn about the lifecycle of the fan experience and the focus sporting events and brands are putting on this, the economic and physical impacts of sports events and what legacy they can leave, the importance of sustainability and diversity in the context of events and facilities, and what the future may look like for the sporting industry.

Module 6: Sports Events and Facilities Masterclass. Earners got the opportunity to learn about the elements required to create a major sports event and consider what makes them unique, iconic and popular. Earners reflected on the range of professional sports facilities and the key operational imperatives required to run successful events. Earners reviewed case studies on the development and operation of several sports stadiums as well as the delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
